Using Avian Monitoring Data to Guide Natural Resource Management through Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions

Time and Date: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EST on Thursday, March 14 2019

Bird habitat on military installations can have a significant impact to the military mission. The Bird Conservancy of the Rockies conducts avian monitoring using methods that are consistent with the Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions (IMBCR) program on five DoD installations in Colorado and Wyoming. The IMBCR program addresses the goals and objectives of the DoD Coordinated Bird Monitoring Plan through its robust design and analytical procedures, integrated and large-scale data set, and ability to inform management. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the IMBCR program and how data and research tools developed through this DoD Legacy-funded effort are currently being used to make natural resource decisions on a Colorado military installation. These methods could be applied to other installations.
