U.S. Wildland Fire Service
Vince Carver has worked in fire management since the mid-1990s, combining operational leadership with a strong background in ecological stewardship.
He began his career at Tall Timbers Research Station in Florida and joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2002 as a Fire Management Officer at Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina.
Vince later moved into the USFWS regional office, serving in multiple positions before being promoted in 2015 to Regional Fire Management Officer for the USFWS's Southeast Region. During his tenure, the program continued to grow fuels accomplishments through strong teams and partnerships.
Vince holds ecology degrees from North Carolina State University and Mississippi State University. He brings all of this experience to his role as the U.S. Wildland Fire Service Southern Geographic Area Fire Chief.
A native of eastern North Carolina, he is married and the father of two daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys church, outdoor activities, woodworking, and beekeeping.
